Dr. Grisel Martos offers both teenagers and adults an innovative solution different from traditional braces: Invisalign. Using a set of customized clear, plastic aligners, you will be able to achieve a confident, healthy smile without the hassle of traditional metal braces. If left untreated, misaligned or crooked teeth can lead to a variety of oral health problems, including periodontal disease and premature wear and tear on the enamel.

What Are The Benefits?

This treatment gives the patients the opportunity to correct misaligned or crooked teeth so they can enjoy a better looking smile—all without the discomforts associated with traditional metal braces.

Some of the other benefits include:

  • Comfortable, removable plastic aligners
  • No food restrictions
  • Minimal pain
  • Few changes to daily routine
  • Who’s a Candidate?

Patients who suffer from overcrowding, overbite, underbite, or excessive gapping are often good candidates for these invisible braces. You may also be a candidate for invisible braces if you:

  • Can abstain from dark beverages like coffee, tea, and red wine
  • Fully commit to wearing aligners for 20-22 hours each day
  • Do not have severe under or overbite issues
  • Do not grind or clench your teeth
  • Are an older teenager or adult
  • The Procedure

During an initial consultation, the doctor will determine if the patient is an ideal candidate for this procedure. If so, the doctor will create a 3-D mold of the patient’s mouth using x-rays, pictures, and impressions. From these resources, a personalized treatment plan is created that charts the movement of the patient’s teeth and determines the length of treatment. As a next step, a custom set of soft BPA-free plastic aligners is designed specifically for the individual and a treatment plan is implemented. Patients switch out their aligners every two weeks, ensuring that the teeth continue to straighten according to the plan. From then on, the patient will come back about every 6 six weeks to check up on progress. The treatment typically lasts for a year, but each patient is unique.
